JJTA CONSULTANT POOL PROCESS

Mission

Our mission is to provide a national network for juvenile justice training professionals for:

  • sharing information
  • providing technical services, and
  • developing support mechanisms

Qualifying Process
The JJTA Board has established criteria and a process for the selection of individuals who are eligible to participate in JJTA Special Projects.
The Consultant Pool Oversight Committee has the responsibility for evaluating eligibility of members, creating and maintaining the pool and establishing a database.

Becoming part of the Pool
All current JJTA members are eligible to apply for membership in the Consultant Pool. Candidates should review the Criteria for Entry and determine the category or categories for which they will apply. An individual may be considered for more than one role if the criteria are met. A single application allows the individual to apply for one or more categories.

Candidates must submit:

  1. Completed Application form
  2. Two (2) professional recommendations/references
  3. Work samples or documentation as outlined in Criteria for Entry (MSWord or Corel WordPerfect)
  4. A check made out to JJTA for $50.00 application fee

Send the completed package to:

Barbara A. Collins, Project Coordinator
Juvenile Justice Trainers Association
7509 Waterlily Way
Columbia, MD 21046

Applications are accepted at any time. The Consultant Pool Oversight Committee will review applications periodically throughout the year. Individuals will be notified whether they meet the criteria and/or have been admitted as candidates for the Pool.

Data collected from applicants will be entered into a database, as support to the process of apportioning JJTA work on future projects, as well as to track pool members' project experience.

Members of JJTA who have already worked on JJTA project teams will be grand-parented into the pool by completing an application. No samples will be required for work that has been acknowledged in inviting them to become Pool members. They will receive letters that specify the category(ies) into which they have been accepted.
